Lately I’ve been getting hammered with all these questions in my email. I have over 100 questions to answer and I just wanted to take some time to answer to all of you, as I’ve been busy.

Can you recommend any books for starting an online business that you’ve read?
I want to know about the kind of skills I should have, how to set up everything on my website, etc.

There are many great books out there on how to start an online business.
One of them is “Rework” by Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson. You might also try “Crush It” by Gary Vaynerchuk. There’s some good content to be read in these two books.
How do I get more clicks to my website?
I think it’s great that you’re thinking about dirving traffic to your site.
There are several different ways you can do this it:
- Using some sort of Pay Per Click (PPC) or Pay Per Action (PPA) service. Google AdWords is one, Facebook Ads, and Yahoo Search Marketing.
- Writing articles for niche websites (guest posting) or publications or submit them to online article databases.
- Launch a blog or blog for an niche organization.
- Write reviews for career books on Amazon.com and include a link back to your site in them.
- Eemail newsletter
- And, if you already have one: select a marketing partner and do a co-promotion – when someone signs up for their newsletter, they are prompted to sign-up for yours.
There are many, many ways to get traffic to your website.
Remember all the traffic in the world doesn’t amount to a hill of rice unless it converts.
How do online businesses make money?
I want to start a blog or online business, but I don’t know how to make money from it…
Some businesses sell products or services and some make their money online through advertising revenue or Pay Per Click (PPC) services like Google AdSense.
And, still some online businesses and blogs make their money through membership fees.
What are the most important things to consider when starting an online store?
I plan to target buyers from all over the world.
Some of the things you want to consider:
- * Are you going to launch your own site or will you use a tool like Amazon aStore?
- Is your shopping cart easy to use for your customers? Will it be server-based or third-party software?
- What are your policies? (e.g return, shipping)
- Which service will you use for processing credit card orders? Most merchant account providers will provide you with a gateway, but not always.
- What other payments will you receive? Checks?
- Will you ship internationally? What are those policies?
This should get you moving, its important to have a foundation set up.
